One in 68 children between the ages of 6 to 17 has an autism spectrum disorder according to the recent Centers for Disease Control study. This diagnosis can be a source of great agony for families. Our teams at the Gavras Center are able to offer hope and concrete strategies to help individuals live their best lives. As early as preschool and through adulthood, Gavras Teams work on improving social abilities, inter personal and communication skills, increased independence and strengthening the abilities in each person.
Please consider joining us at the 7th Annual Walk for Autism Awareness in Cayuga County, to be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Casey Park in Auburn, NY. As you have done so in the past, we invite you to once again participate in this milestone event as a Sponsor with a donation to help underwrite our expenses. The walk’s mission is to promote understanding and knowledge of autism and to raise necessary funds for autism related services. The E. John Gavras Center is a key provider of services for autism in Cayuga County and all funds raised by the walk will stay in Cayuga County.
Last year’s walk had over 400 participants! It was a huge success! For your gift, you will receive appropriate acknowledgment before and during the day of the event.
Thank you for your consideration, your support is crucial as we take steps together to raise awareness and acceptance of people with differing abilities. We feel this event creates a very important opportunity to show support for our community families, friends and coworkers with a local walk. Are you willing to be a piece in our puzzle of change?
